{"id":279,"date":"2020-02-24T14:28:21","date_gmt":"2020-02-24T14:28:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cohk.edu.gh\/?page_id=279"},"modified":"2021-04-12T15:59:26","modified_gmt":"2021-04-12T15:59:26","slug":"history","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/cohk.edu.gh\/index.php\/history\/","title":{"rendered":"College History"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: georgia, palatino;\"><u>BRIEF HISTORY OF THE COLLEGE<\/u><\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: georgia, palatino; color: #000000;\">College of Health and Well-Being, Kintampo (Formerly Rural Health Training School) became fully established in 1969 by the Ministry of Health Ghana.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: georgia, palatino; color: #000000;\">It has the mandate to churn out quality multi-purpose health personnel for the provision of quality health care throughout the country.So far, College Health &amp; Well-Being is the only school of its kind in the country.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: georgia, palatino; color: #000000;\">The motto is \u201cEducating For Service\u201d with a guiding principle of producing human resource capable of providing health services that is simple in operation, extensive in scope, affordable and yet efficient in quality.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: georgia, palatino; color: #000000;\">Since its inception, the school has lived with this principle and turned out hundreds of Physician Assistants (Medical and Dental), Nutrition and Disease Control Officers, Field Technicians, Medical Laboratory Technologists, Registered Dental Surgery Assistants, Health Information Officers, Health Records Management Officers, Health Promotion Officers, among others who have strived to and continue to make immense contributions to the reduction of disability and suffering, morbidity and mortality particularly among marginalized population groups in Ghana.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: georgia, palatino; color: #000000;\">With a humble beginning of two Certificate Programmes, the College now runs 15 programmes made up of Direct and Post Basic Diploma Courses, BSc.
